Dr. Kris Hogquist (associate director of the Center for Immunology) was just elected to the National Academy of Sciences for her brilliant research on T-cell development in the thymus. Congratulations!

Dr. Harry Orr received a 2022 Kavli Prize for outstanding contributions in Neuroscience on June 1. This prestigious award is determined by an international committee and presented by the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. In non-pandemic years, it is personally bestowed by Haakon, Crown Prince of Norway.
The Association of Multicultural Scientists (AMS) held the AMS STEM Academy, a free science fair for middle and high school students in the Twin Cities on May 21. AMS is a graduate student organization, and faculty and graduate students from across the University helped conduct hands-on science activities with the students and their families. Read more>>
Three years in the making and the result of efforts from faculty and students, in August 2023, the Medical School will launch new curriculum, Foundations and Minnesota Health Pathways, for the class of 2027. Foundations unifies the curriculum between our two campuses and provides evidence-based education with guaranteed outcomes. Dr. Eugenia Shmidt was awarded the Gastrointestinal Division's Outstanding Junior Faculty Award for 2021-2022 for the excellence of her her efforts across our missions of clinical care, research, and teaching.
Dr. Ann Van Heest, professor and vice chair of education for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, has received the Graduate Medical Education Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the Office of Graduate Medical Education in recognition of her extraordinary and lasting contributions to education.
Dr. David Nascene creates 3D-printed skull models from head CT studies performed on children with skull deformities in the hope it can provide hands-on experience with anatomy that can be difficult to understand from a lecture or textbook.
Jerica Berge, PhD, MPH, LMFT, CFLE, Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, was awarded the 2022 Carole J. Bland Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award for being an exceptional mentor to other faculty. Dr. Berge has also been named the inaugural Carole J. Bland, PhD, Endowed Chair in Research.
Dr. Rahel Nardos was recently selected as one of the 2022 Bush Fellowship Awardees for her visionary ideas of how to train the next generation of equity-minded women’s health care champions and build trust between women and healthcare institutions.
