An article in the November issue of AAMC Journal of Academic Medicine addressed the importance of understanding barriers women face and why promotions and opportunities for growth are especially challenging for women of color. As academic leaders coming from underrepresented groups, the authors are aware that traditional approaches to reducing this bias have not worked well.
