U of M receives NIAID grant to develop drug treatments for future viral pandemics


As part of a national network for pandemic preparedness, the U of M-led Midwest Antiviral Drug Discovery Center received $66 million in federal funding to develop new antiviral drugs for flaviviruses (like Zika and West Nile), filoviruses (such as Ebola), and arenaviruses (for example, Lassa). By identifying and targeting the essential processes of these viruses, new therapeutics could be developed to stop them before they reach a pandemic level. Read More >>
