The MS Research Office has launched the Greater MN Clinical Research Initiative, which will expand access to a wide range of clinical trials to Minnesotans across the state. By creating collaborative partnerships with physicians, hospitals and clinics across the state, patients can participate in clinical trials locally instead of having to travel to Minneapolis. Through the Minnesota Evidence-based Practice Center, Dr. Paolo Goffredo received a collaborative award (co-led by Dr. Mary Butler of the School of Public Health) to evaluate the effectiveness of treatments for Stage I-III anal squamous cell carcinomas. READ MORE>>
Dr. Sara Alcorn and collaborators published results from a large research study that identified "radiotherapy deserts" by measuring the mismatch between radiotherapy resources and oncology needs across the U.S. This study can help improve health equity by identifying underserved areas and the highlighting the connections among race, poverty, and location on the rural-urban continuum. In a collaboration with Children's Minnesota, Dr. Sarah Espinoza received one of three CTSI Child Health Collaborative Grants for her project, "A Synergistic Solution: Piloting a physical activity-based positive youth development program to support transgender and gender diverse adolescents' mental health.” LEARN MORE>>
Dr. Lisa Carney Anderson received the Arthur C. Guyton Distinguished Educator Award from the Teaching Section of the American Physiological Society during their recent Summit Conference. LEARN MORE>>
