On July 21, 2023, U of M Medical School partner Essentia Health unveiled its new St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN. The new facility is rated as a five-star hospital by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid and is Duluth's only Level 1 trauma center.
